There is nothing more important in the world than the love of someone who, when you tell them you are having a bad day, will drop everything and take the time to write an email telling you how much you mean to them.

I really needed that today.

Thanks, Ferrett.

As anyone who is still bothering to read my whiny entries at all will remember, Wednesday was a spectacularly bad night. I was ready to give up. I can claim no heroism in my continuing - the clock revolves and inertia takes over. I dragged myself out the door and to the office.

Sometime midmorning, [livejournal.com profile] theferrett calls me because he needs information for the IRA stuff that he's filling out, tax stuff. Who do I work for, where do I work, etc. This is an oddly difficult question, for although I w0rk on the Case Western Reserve University campus, I am an employee of the law firm contracted to do their work, which has a large office downtown that I only go to a couple times a year. So I'm trying to answer the questions to the best of my ability. And forget it.

Turns out the sneaky little darling was trying to send me flowers, to cheer me up. But by the time we were finished the address he had was so untethered to reality that there was no hope of the florist finding me. They did, however, find Taft, who gave them my number, but I was out so the office assistant gave them directions.

In the meantime, the confirmation of the flowers was inexplicably sent to my email address, a fact that I kept from Ferrett in one of those O. Henry attempts at creating a perfect ending. But I noted the screwed up addy, and so engaged in an absurd email argument with a chirpy customer service rep who was happy to tell me that I had no idea where the fuck I actually worked. I left at 4, grateful for te effort but convinced that the flowers would never arrive.

I was wrong. When I got to work this morning, there they were, ballon, chocolate kisses, and all. Everyone ooo-ed and aww-ed, and the sweet teddybear took up residence next to the vorpal Bunny, who looks like he might take a bite out of Ted any moment now.

It brightened my day, even before it arrived. Flowers at the office are just one of those standards of love that impress everyone. I smiled every time i looked at it, there in the windowsill, all day.
