On Saturday night Ferrett made this great salad for dinner. It had lovely pieces of lean pork tenerloin, baby greens, pineapple and papaya. It was so good it didn't need and kind of dressing. There was much more than we could eat, so I set aside the fruit and pork for lunch today and this morning threw more of the lettuce into the container - perfect for lunch.
Except for one problem. Before you go any further, reread the ingredient list and see if you can "Sherlock" it. Go ahead, I'll wait....
Dum de dummm.....
Back? Did you get it? That's right, papaya! Papaya, filled with the lovely enzymes that are the main ingredient in Adolph's meat tenderizer.
I have a Tupperware container full of lettuce, pineapple, papaya chunks, and these soft, grayish lumps that used to be tasty pork tenderloin. The meat hasn't quite dissolved, but it's well on its way. I ate one or two small bites before I figured out what going on. The texture is just too nasty to believe. I've eaten around it the best I can, but the mental images (involving zombie movies - I won't say anything else) have totally killed my appetite.
Honey, note to selves: meat must remain separate if there are to be leftovers of this.
