Today's PSA: when a medical office or other nongovernmental business asks you for your Social Security Number, you cannot be required to give it out. Protect yourself from identity theft!

I'm having a mole removed from my left temple today. For which I am now sitting in a hospital gown and panties. It's my face, people! Why do I gotta be nekkid?!

Through with surgery. As it turns out, the mole was directly over the temporal artery and the doc had some concern about getting it all without a nick that could cause unwelcome spurtitude. It didn't happen, though, and I am home. Feeling remarkably shaky and wobbly, though. And you know how your lip feels weird and misshapen after Novocaine? That's how my left eye and eyebrow feel right now. I wonder if this is how Botox feels because if it is, I can't imagine doing it to myself!

The natural thing to want to do when your face feels numb like this is experiment - can I raise my eyebrow? (No.) Squint? (Probably.) The problem with that natural reaction is that my post-care instructions begin with an imperative not to make faces. I need to remain flat affect as much as possible to minimize scarring. Also, I cannot engage in strenuous activity or bend over for a couple of days.

This is very bad. And no, not for the reasons you dirty-minded folks might think! No, we have to essentially move out of our upstairs in the next couple of days, because we are having the interior of the house painted. Books, DVDs, paintings, knick knacks, all need to be hauled out of the upstairs rooms and stowed in the basement for a while.

By Wednesday.

Chaos, thy residence is Chez McJuddmetz.....
