SCREAM!!!!!!

8+ hours of nonstop homework.

I can't do anymore today. I can't I can't I can't.

Class schedules for next fall and spring semesters have been released. I'm trying to plan for getting the last of my requirements, and enough credits. I want to tear my hair out. No one wants to teach late evening classes, so as a consequence everything I want/need to take is being given at the same time. That's really, really crappy. But I think I've gotten a workable schedule, assuming I can get into everything I need to get into.

If not, I'm boned.

I'm just ready for school to be over. Getting no rest during spring break didn't help. It was a good thing that I didn't have class last week, but that doesn't help me deal with the mental burnout.

I know. I'm whinging again....

8 hours! That's like.... a full day's work. STOP.

Go get some Coldstone. But don't tip 'em. Hehe.

Went for a walk around the block. Now going to take a long, hot bath and read mindless fiction, then go to bed early.

[identity profile] lulybunny.livejournal.com 2005-03-20 02:37 am (UTC)(link)
Or that. Hehe. Much better option.

I've had Cold Stone on the brain since reading about the Cinnamon ice cream you guys had last night. HA!

Hehe, thanks. That was me geeking it up at the LOTR oscar party last year. *snort*

be gentle on yourself...you have had a lot on your plate

Yeah, but it's keeping that plate from getting overwhelmed from the other side - there is no mercy in law school.

But there is mercy in you

[identity profile] adjust-56.livejournal.com 2005-03-20 02:15 am (UTC)(link)
That's why you take it a day at a time.... you do what you can and let the rest be....really 8 hours is more than enough....you will get through law school, just make sure your sane while going through it.

I have a simple question, just for comparison. How many credit hours do you take per semester?

I ask because I'm going back to school full time in the fall and have been planning to take about 16 credits (one of which is a dancing course to fulfill some elective space) while still teaching and doing office work at the studio for about 30 hours a week. Most of my friends and family think I'm nuts. My husband says I can do it, but agrees with everyone else that I'm nuts.

I'm taking 12, and working fulltime. It's almost killing me. You are nuts.

[identity profile] elysianmusings.livejournal.com 2005-03-20 04:29 am (UTC)(link)
I wouldn't probably take so many, except that I have an assload of 100 level courses I have to take before I can get to what counts. I only have like 3 200 level courses to take (that's thanks to all of my transfer credits), however all of these 100 levels I want to get down are prereqs for my other courses.

Dunno, I haven't decided yet. I may or may not take that many. We'll see what happens. I'm waiting to see what I can get for financial aid. If there's enough, I'll drop down in hours at work.

Speaking as a full-time employee who took a whoping 6 credit hours last semester...yeah, yer both nuts! ;) How about slicing those crdit hours in half and saving your sanity?

Only THREE this semester,
Patty

I dunno, my sister is doing 13 credits a semester and working full time. All her classes are in the morning and she works 2nd shift. I did 14 when I went to school last time and I was ok.

*shrug*

I guess everyone's different. I can see [livejournal.com profile] zoethe's troubles, though. Law is ruthless. I'm double majoring in Religious Studies and Philosophy to supplement my ministry work.

[identity profile] undertheivy99.livejournal.com 2005-03-20 05:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Wow! Ministry work as well! When do you sleep?

[identity profile] elysianmusings.livejournal.com 2005-03-20 06:07 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm tired a lot of the time. But that's due to horomone supplements I'm taking. When I'm not on them, I survive fine with 4-6 hours tops a night. Of course, if I stop taking them that leaves a risk for pregnancy and we don't want that right now. *sigh*

What most people don't understand about my job is that it doesn't feel like work to me. Other than some minor office work, I teach ballet during the week. I run the ballet program at a local studio. Hopefully in the next year or so we'll find another adult teacher to learn how my program runs and wants to take on some lower level classes. Both the owner and myself want to keep our hours to the more advanced classes only. That way we have time to go to conventions and what not.

My ministry work is very part time. I've done weddings and things and I'm going to school more so to supplement that than anything else.

Besides that, I still find time to dance in a Tribal Fusion Bellydance Troupe in my area. I have to be so busy my brain is going to explode. I never know what to do with freetime otherwise.

"Marge, you and I are very different people."

I think what I am suffering from most is the lack of time to be doing nothing. Without meditative time, I get increasingly frazzled.

[identity profile] elysianmusings.livejournal.com 2005-03-20 11:27 pm (UTC)(link)
I wish I could do 'nothing' at times, but the second there is some time available I find something else to fill it with.

You sound like an amazingly cool person!

Thanks!

I've just spent all of my spring break sick, and working on a 20+ page case study. Whinge away, my dear, nursing school isn't any easier so I can definitely empathize ...

Getting in the exercise is a good idea. Helps manage the stress levels. And getting your sister out of CCF is a great idea! Now all things can roll smoothly along, as they are meant to be ...

Happy Spring! -- :Dana
