And now this week's Friday Five: Goals and Childhood.

1. As a child, who was your favorite superhero/heroine? Why?
Does Peter Pan count? Talk about your sexual ambiguity--I grew up on the Mary Martin version wherein I knew that Peter Pan was supposed to be a boy but was really a girl. That made me ambitious.

2. What was one thing you always wanted as a child but never got?
To travel. My dad had two opportunities to go to exotic places - Venezuela and Brazil - but passed them up. I begged and begged. No dice. I didn't get out of Oregon/Washington until I was a senior in highschool and went to California.

3. What's the furthest from home you've been?
St. John, the U.S. Virgin Islands. Particularly so since "home" at that time was Alaska. I loved it there, but couldn't live on an island longterm.

4. What's one thing you've always wanted to learn but haven't yet?
A musical instrument. I was a much-deprived child, never forced to sit through a single piano lesson. I was working at the violin for a while, but my instructor stopped teaching adults and I never found another; now I don't have time.

5. What are your plans for the weekend?
Study tonight (just taking a break), going to an arboretum early tomorrow (to remind myself that spring will come), Imolc celebration and dinner with friends tomorrow evening; study, gaming, and a law school meeting on Sunday. Other than that, resting [snort].

I have passed test, and I am now deemed worthy to be known as a ... ... Druidess. In the war between good and evil, a Druidess tends to walk the fine line of Neutrality.I am gifted with the elemental plane of Air.

The fury of a storm, the gentle strength of the morning sun, the cunning of the fox, the power of the bear-all these and more are at the druid’s command. Their spells are oriented toward nature and animals. In addition to spells, druids gain an increasing array of magical powers, including the ability to take the shapes of animals. The druid however, claims no mastery over nature. That claim, she says, is the empty boast of a city dweller.

The druid gains her power not by ruling nature but by being at one with it. To trespassers in a druid’s sacred grove, to those who feel the druid’s wrath, the distinction is overly fine.

Your powers are highly attuned to the elemental plane of air. Storms and the powers of the winds come at your beck and call. Sometimes a magic user tuned to the elemental plane of air has the power to fly at will, and infuse his living body with the powers of his element. Often mages of air will build their strongholds or magical dwellings in high places such as mountain tops or flying citadels high above the earth where they can be close to their element. Some of the more powerfull spells in your arsenal include Lightning Bolt, Desert Twister, and Divine Wind.

You are 45% geek
You are a geek liaison, which means you go both ways. You can hang out with normal people or you can hang out with geeks which means you often have geeks as friends and/or have a job where you have to mediate between geeks and normal people. This is an important role and one of which you should be proud. In fact, you can make a good deal of money as a translator.

Normal: Tell our geek we need him to work this weekend.

You [to Geek]: We need more than that, Scotty. You'll have to stay until you can squeeze more outta them engines!

Geek [to You]: I'm givin' her all she's got, Captain, but we need more dilithium crystals!

You [to Normal]: He wants to know if he gets overtime.

Take the Polygeek Quiz at Thudfactor.com

I stopped doing these quizzes because they have a nasty tendency to disappear and leave broken links, but this one amused me, particularly since it's so accuracte [g].

Since there is talk of this among my buds, here's the analysis of my personality type:

Provider Guardians [ESFJs] take it upon themselves to arrange for the health and welfare of those in their care, but they are also the most sociable of all the Guardians, and thus are the great nurturers of established institutions such as schools, businesses, churches, social clubs, and civic groups. Wherever they go, Providers take up the role of social contributor, happily giving their time and energy to make sure that the needs of others are met, that traditions are supported and developed, and that social functions are a success.

Providers are very likely more than ten percent of the population, and this is very fortunate for the rest of us, because friendly social service is a key to their nature. Highly cooperative themselves, Providers are skilled in maintaining teamwork among their helpers, and are also tireless in their attention to the details of furnishing goods and services. They make excellent chairpersons in charge of social events. They are without peer as masters of ceremonies, able to approach others with ease and confidence, and seemingly aware of what everyone’s been doing. And they are outstanding hosts or hostesses, able to remember people’s names, usually after one introduction, and always concerned about the needs of their guests, wanting to insure that all are involved and provided for.

Providers are extremely sensitive to the feelings of others, which makes them perhaps the most sympathetic of all the types, but which also leaves them rather self-conscious, that is, highly sensitive to what others think of them. Because of this ESFJs can be crushed by personal criticism, and will work most effectively when given ample appreciation both for themselves personally and for the service they give to others. This is not to say that Providers are afraid to express their own emotional reactions. They are quick to like and dislike—and don’t mind saying so—tending to put on a pedestal whatever or whoever they admire, and to come down hard on those people and issues they don’t care for.

In their choice of careers, Providers may lean toward sales and service occupations. They have such pleasant, outgoing personalities that they are far and away the best sales reps, not only regularly winning sales contests, but earning seniority in any sales group within an organization. Observing ESFJs at work in a sales transaction reveals clearly how this type personalizes the sale. They are visibly—and honestly—concerned with their customer’s welfare, and thus the customer is not simply buying the product, but is buying personally from the Provider. This same characteristic causes them to be good in many people-to-people jobs, as teachers, clergy, coaches, social workers, office receptionists, and so on. Providers seldom become a source of irritation in the workplace; on the contrary, they are unflagging in their devotion to their company, and show such personal loyalty to their immediate superiors that they make invaluable personal secretaries.

Naw, not me at all [cough]

Want To Know Which Element You Are?

Contrary to what some might believe,
you are not all physical. Sure, the flesh is there (so why not enjoy it?!), but you can be passionate
about knowledge just as much. Though sometimes prone to be spontaneous, you are on the hunt for things
that make you happy. Only have one life to live, right? Just need to learn when to cool down a bit so
that you don't forget about friends and family.

Best Match: Earth, to keep you grounded at times;
Water, only one's to put up with your wild side.
Worst Match: Air, there is nothing worse then a person
who gets more wrapped up in themselves then you do!

wasted a bunch of time making this test.

Let's see if this works:

See which Greek Goddess you are.

Was there a lot of doubt how I'd come out?

Got through the first day back at the office with less stress than I believed possible--but I'm not caught up yet. And I got a raise! After only 6 months, which is *never*done, and despite my being the best paid paralegal there already, they gave me a raise. It's not "go to the Carribean" type money, but considering the situation it was nice to have my contributions recognized.

So, bopping through Sheldie links I came across the Sparks Personality Test. Here are my results:

(Dominant Introvert Abstract Thinker )

Like just 4% of the population you are an EXPERIMENTER (DIAT). Although you're slightly shy (admit it!), you love control. When a problem comes in your way, you stomp on it swiftly and decisively. You are bothered easily by failure in others and failure in yourself. You don't like people that you don't think are intelligent. Rather than arguing with them, however, you would just as soon ignore them altogether.

In relationships, you have a strong heart. And because you're introverted, people take you as someone they can trust. But the fact is that in addition to solving problems, you like to create them. So there's a decent chance that you'll cheat on a loved one. If you do, you'll likely get away with it.

You're a good person at heart, but then again, who isn't?

Other than the Introverted part, it's astounding how closely this describes me.
