Kristi update

It's been a while since I've done one of these. I wanted to let you know that Kristi's surgery was a complete success and she is now completely off the incredibly addictive pain meds that those incompetent, knuckle-dragging Montana doctors heaped on her. It was difficult and painful, but she is off everything. Her pain management specialist told her that she was one in a million. He said that he hadn't wanted to discourage her, but generally when people have been on that level of medication for that long, they find some reason to remain on something for the rest of their lives. He was impressed by how fast she got off them, and her determination to shake a habit. It still makes me mad that doctors did this to her, but at least she is done with it now.

And one of the benefits is that she can read again! While she was on meds, her glasses made her nauseated and she couldn't manage to get through more than a short magzine article before the words all ran together. Now she is merrily devouring Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince.

The happiest thing of all, however, is that her husband arrived last night. He's here for good, and we're all looking forward to them having their own place and us having our house back!

For Kris, this week was Christmas. And Ferrett and I are REALLY looking forward to being home alone.
