Spitty snow yesterday, and the first cold weather. I was wearing a long skirt and automatically put on knee-hi socks, but wisdom prevailed and I changed to tights. Thank the Maker.
The one downside to losing weight this year is that my wonderful and warm leather coat would now qualify as a wonderful and warm leather tent. I need to look into having it taken in, but that will undoubtedly be a spendy process and I'm not feeling that flush. A friend generously gave me a dress coat that she doesn't wear, and it's very pretty but not particularly warm. Fridays in October through December are jeans days at my office, if you pay the $5/Friday bounty (it's a United Way fundraiser), and today would be a particularly good day to be able to wear jeans as Ferrett is picking me up straight from work so that we can go see Harry Potter.
Which means, of course, that I'm sitting here in a suit. The Fates being easily amused, I got roped into a client meeting and a professional luncheon event today. I prepaid my bounty, however, and do not wish to wear a suit to the movies, so I'm carrying along jeans and a sweater.
But it is even chillier today, and the only suit I have left that fits me has a short skirt. Even with tights, it's not very warm. (And I'm sure it doesn't help that I've lost a lot of my personal insulation as well.) So I have resorted to the trick of Minnesota schoolgirls: I have on a pair of leggings.
It's a fetching look on a 47-year-old woman, let me tell you.
I will of course peel out of them when I get to work. But I'm sort of enjoying the warmth for the moment.
