In other weirdness...

The refrigerator seems to have experienced a spontaneous healing.
This is not a behavior you generally see in a major household appliance.
Before anyone assumes that it was something I did, let me just note that it is one of those sealed units where you can't vacuum off the coils. I did suck dust from beneath it, but the motor and fan have been running all along (I didn't unplug it because the air circulation helps to avoid mold). After I pushed it back in place, I noticed that the freezer unit seemed colder, so I chucked an icepack in there, just to see. Sure enough, it froze up.
Problem is, the refrigerator part does not seem to be getting very cold. I am not convinced that this isn't a last hurrah, but it amused me, so I thought I'd share.
If it lives, I'm gonna start advertising myself as an appliance faith healer.

on 2006-08-21 12:55 am (UTC)We got out of the car and jiggled things under the hood and the car refused to start back up...
Finally, realizing that we were now about to be late to work and without the advent of cell phones, we both glared under the hood and she decided to try it one more time.
I hollered out "WAIT! I have an IDEA!"
And I stood before the car, raised my hands and then made the sign of the cross as I uttered the following words "My father plays dominos better than yours can."
She turned the key and the car started.
Congratulations on the freezer. After all, ice is more important than eggs or milk.

on 2006-08-21 12:15 pm (UTC)Feeling a bit better, though wary of getting to enthusiastic. I may go for a walk, but I know better than to let myself get on my bike - I have no self control and will ride 24 miles give myself a setback.
