I know there are people who are upset that the Arizona law has been blocked. And I understand that there are real and serious problems with immigration in this country. But to quote Sir Humphrey Applebee: "If you are going to do this damned silly thing, don't do it in this damned silly way."
Federal policy has failed in protecting the borders against the dangers of drug trafficking. Federal policy has failed to address our need for an inexpensive work force. Federal policy has given lip service to border control while ignoring an economy that is based on underpaid and unprotected workers. And border states have borne the brunt of these policies.
But that doesn't negate the Constitution. And people willing to let it do so are foolish and shortsighted.
